A bow to Greta

Just as olms are totally blind, the human species seems constitutionally blind to the dangers that could be seen with just a little attention: Since the first report of the "Club of Rome" in 1972 and since the book by Paul Ehrlich "The Population Bomb" in 1968 it was clear that the technocratic philosophy of growth is a dead end. And since the year 2000, it has become increasingly clear that global warming is becoming a serious problem.

Its true that since the 1970s and 1980s, there was a worldwide emergence of Green movements and parties, which attempted to find and offer answers to the new environmental challenges. In Switzerland they initially operated within a framework of liberal-bourgeois ideas. But the bourgeois press systematically ridiculed and labelled them as "leftists" while the left considered the new competition with a jaundiced eye. Practical political effects remained close to zero and after having participated very actively in the initial years I gave up already in 1991.  

Greta Thunberg, the 16-year-old girl with braids, has achieved what the Green Movement has not for forty years: to force the issue of the collapsing environment on the table. Their idea of ​​the school strike keeps the adults from their duty oblivion in the mirror. And she represents things brilliantly, the leader of a late resistance - no one can avoid her.

How shabby and miserable are the assembled "authorities" who continue to ignore the problem, who together with the Murdoch Press or German speaking newspapers like die WELT and Neue Zürcher Zeitung suspect behind Greta and her movement manipulation, third-party control, as well as child abuse and respond accordingly with head-shaking, condescension, pity, self-righteous indignation or mockery. Greta Thunberg has countered such reproaches on Facebook herself.

If you are able to face the problem you can only bow to her with thanks. And of course she deserves the Nobel Prize. Who else?
